 April Community Service

Children’s National Medical Center

The Children’s National Medical Center’s mission is to meet the urgent health needs of children and shape a brighter future for all children.  An average day at the Center sees as many as 300 children in the emergency room.  Their neonatal intensive care unit gives the smallest babies a chance for a long and healthy life.  Last year they provided $56 million in health care to children whose families could not afford treatment.

This month we will be supporting their

Dr. Bears’s Closet & Concierge Closet:

They are in need of newborn items.  Having a baby in regular baby cloths versus a hospital gown, lets the family see their baby in as “normal” a way as possible while they are here.  It allows them to see their baby first and not the illness or medical equipment and helps them realize and understand that their baby is just like other babies.

Please note that all items must be NEW – no used clothing:

0-3 month size sleepers/onesies

(NO Zippers! –That could interfere with medical equipment)

New Born Socks

Pacifiers

Rattles – for their little bitty patients

Also, anyone connected to hotels?  They have also requested personal care kits -hotel size toiletries: which would include toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, hand lotion.  Families often come and spend days at the hospital and need items.

*The attendee to bring the most items will receive complimentary admission to the next DC NACE Meeting*
