As you know, the DC NACE 2008 Gala will sponsor a local charity, with part of our proceeds going to that charity. We would like our members to help us choose one. At the next meeting, Tuesday, May 20, 2008, we are asking you to nominate your favorite charity. It must be a 501C3 organization. Please write a few sentences that explains what the charity does and submit it to me as soon as possible. We will ask you at the meeting to present it to the members and then we will vote on them. This is a great cause and we look forward to your submissions.

Martin Andrews thinks "video" is a bad word. It's not that 'video' is bad per se, but he feels there's a certain stigma associated with the word video that scares many of his potential clients away. "Our clients are looking for something that's a little more artistic, something that's instantly timeless and infused with nostalgia," says Andrews. "Video to me says bright lights, interviews with your guests and tacky effects--all of the things we don’t do".
Martin started his career in wedding videography in 1997 after being hired as a wedding videographer for a Washington DC studio at the age of 17. In 2002, he decided to branch out on his own, starting his own brand - Martin Andrews: Motion Picture Essays. "The first three years I was in business really gave me the opportunity to build a strong local base as a businessman as well as really flesh out my style as an artist," says Andrews.
In 2005, Martin launched Blue Sky Films with the mission of providing Washington area brides with a new and modern approach for wedding and event videography. His films are one part poetry, one part rock n' roll.
Since then, Blue Sky Films has become the leading event documentary studio in the DC area, catering to high end clients planning auspicious occasions across the nation.
The Blue Sky Team prides themselves with their one on one approach with each and every client - resulting in a truly unique reflection of their special day. "From script to screen clients have input into the production process. Music selections, style of shooting, editing formats, even our DVD cases and menus are totally customized for each client," says Andrews. "Our final products are then mastered to DVD, and in late 2008, we'll be outputting films on Blu-Ray High Definition."
After just 2 years in business, Blue Sky Films was named "Washington's Best Videographer" by Washingtonian Magazine. Their client lists include the many of Washington's most well known faces.
